The annual UREF men's health lecture and dinner was held at the Frontiers of Flight Museum, Thursday, June 20 and featured Col. Joe Kittinger, Jr. Until recently Joe held the world record for highest parachute jump of 102,800 feet, was the first man to exceed the sound barrier in a free fall and had the longest free fall, all achieved on August 16, 1960. In October 2012 Felix Baumgartner broke Joes world records when he skydived an estimated 39 km(24 mi) and reached an estimated speed of 1357.64 km/h (843.6 mph), or Mach 1.25. Red Bull Stratos sponsored the jump and hired Joe as the "Capcom" (capsule communications) which was Mission Control's primary point of radio contact with Baumgartner during his ascent. The lecture also featured Col. Dan Fulgham (Dr Fulgham’s dad) who flew with Kittinger in the Air Force and worked with him on early space suit testing and high altitude jumps. Dr Pat Fulgham spoke on the topic of testosterone replacement therapy.
